The Tahoe Rim Trail Challenge, a popular self-guided program launched by the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, inspires visitors and residents alike to enjoy incredible landscapes from six hand-picked scenic portions of the trail that passes through both California and Nevada. Hundreds of participants, including families, individuals and groups, have begun the inaugural Tahoe Rim Trail Challenge.
With 100 days available between the autumn equinox on Sunday, Sept. 22 and the last day of 2013, it is not too late to embark on this adventure!
Trail Challenge Membership Benefits
In addition to a professionally designed trekking T-shirt, Trail Challenge members receive access to a members-only web site, a place to track progress, share pictures and connect with other participants. Members also receive a one year membership to the Tahoe Rim Trail Association plus personal invitations to not one but two “Where’s McCleod the Marmot Giveaway Days!” McLeod, a much-loved stuffed animal / trail mascot for the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, joins Association staff and board members at two of the six sites this autumn. Board members, staff and McLeod will greet Trail Challenge participants at the Alpine Creek Challenge Site (Trail Challenge site # 4) with corporate sponsor Redemption Sports from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. All registered members who hike or bike to the challenge site will receive a $15 Redemption Sports gift certificate to use at the outdoor gear shop in Incline Village, NV. On Saturday, Oct. 5, head to the Peaks & Valley Challenge Site (Trail Challenge site #5) for surprise treats from another sponsor while basking in the phenomenal fall colors that blanket this section of the Tahoe Rim Trail.
