ABOUT THE TRAIL
Offering incredible views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada and Carson mountain ranges, the 165-mile long Tahoe Rim Trail is one of the world’s premier and most scenic trails. It passes through Nevada and California, six counties, one state park, three National Forests and three Wilderness areas. Enjoyed by more than 100,000 outdoor enthusiasts annually, users include day and thru-hikers, equestrians, fishermen, snowshoers, runners and mountain bike riders. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association built the trail and continues to maintain the trail as well as build new trail in partnership with the US Forest Service and Nevada State Parks. Today the Tahoe Rim Trail system consists of more than 170 miles including connections and extensions.
