Rebel Fitness Academy’s fall line up of seasonal fitness training kicks off with an educational series. Rebel’s mission is rooted in founder Ryan Egan’s strong belief that caring for your body will reveal the life purpose which you were meant to fulfill. The challenges of caring for one’s body are often attributed to prioritizing time in addition to managing other priorities and the September 2012 Wednesday evening series off suggestions, tips and access to resources.
On Wednesday, Sept. 12 Rebel Fitness Academy welcomes registered dietitian Maria Martin who is passionate about helping people develop a healthy relationship with food. She will speak on the value of sports nutrition, fat burning and healthy meals at 6 p.m. Martin’s work focuses on nutrition, weight management and food sensitivities. She is a wellness dietitian with Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance and established the Nutrition Coalition which provides hands on education to families and works to improve the quality of lunches in the Tahoe Truckee school district. Martin has more than two decades of practical experience and her academic training includes a Bachelors degree in dietetics from the University of California at Davis and a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley. In conjunction with Martin’s informative talk there will be wholesome dinner snacks prepared by Kaili’s Creative Kitchen.
On Sept. 19, Dr. Kim Bateman will provide an interactive workshop about celebrating your strengths and using them to actualize your values. Bateman, the dean of Sierra College, is known for her extraordinary teaching and facilitation skills.
On Sept. 26 the focus will be on the kettlebell and how one exercise can make you stronger, more powerful and more athletic
“A properly executed precision hard style kettlebell swing is better than 99.9 percent of any exercise you could choose to do,” promises Egan who has worked with professional athletes including Daron Rahlves who will also share his experience at the event. As one of only 200 Certified Kettlebell Functional Movement Specialists worldwide Egan provides a knowledgeable and safe environment in which to learn and harness the potential of developing crushing strength, explosive power and relentless endurance through kettlebell practice.
