- Be prepared (if you're caught off guard this means reschedule, if possible).
- Know your communications goal - write down your key two to three points/messages and refer to them.
- Listen. Answer. Avoid rambling!
- Always reiterate your key talking points. It's OK, even a good idea, to use the same words and phrases.
- If you don't know, say so.
- Follow through with promised material, images, information.
- If you misstated something, call the reporter immediately and correct yourself.
- Be sincere.
