Sierra College's Tahoe Truckee campus has earned an outstanding reputation for extraordinary educators and small classes. Program offerings are diverse and include core academics as well as career and technical education courses. Summer semester begins on July 1, and students from near and far can take advantage of the one month college blitz to fulfill general education requirements and gain new skills.
Learning Bridge of the Sierra
Rooted in the desire to help both teens and adults achieve their higher education and career goals, Learning Bridge of the Sierra offers a range of free workshops and very affordable classes in Truckee and North Tahoe.
Upcoming offerings include:
Free College Planning Workshop
When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 20
Where: Boys & Girls Club in Kings Beach.
High school seniors will complete 80 percent of the CSU application and gain insights on the college application and financial aid process during the workshop.
Open Computer Lab
When: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday
Where: TTUSD office computer lab, Truckee
Drop-in computer access for the community includes f internet access and printing. A bilingual coordinator is present. Teens are welcome when accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for any of these services.
Learn to type
When: Monday, Aug. 19 to Friday, Aug. 23.
Where: TTUSD computer lab, Truckee
A new keyboarding class is tentatively scheduled for the week before school begins.
Free Financial Aid Workshop
When: Noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22
Where: The Boys & Girls Club in Kings Beach
